62nd Precinct Police Beat: Mother attacks son with bat

Between Thursday, January 7 and Sunday, January 10, the 62nd Precinct received reports of one robbery, one burglary and two felony assaults. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

FAMILY MATTERS

A mother and son fight hit close to home on Thursday, January 7 when a 45-year-old woman whacked her 19-year-old son with a bat inside of their Kings Highway apartment at around 11 p.m. According to police, the pair was engaged in a verbal dispute when the mother began to hit the 19-year-old in the legs with the bat. He received medical attention at the scene.

NOT-SO-FRIENDLY VISIT

A 34-year-old woman was assaulted by her husband’s friend after a night of drinking, according to cops. On Sunday, January 10 at around 10:30 p.m., the woman’s husband and his 20-year-old friend returned to the couple’s apartment, near Avenue U and West Fourth Street, intoxicated. According to police, the woman did not want the 20-year-old in the house and asked him to leave. The husband’s friend then started yelling and cursing at the woman before grabbing her by the neck, causing visible marks.

NO WALK IN THE PARK

A 29-year-old man was taken to Coney Island Hospital on Sunday, January 10 after a 37-year-old perp punched him in the face and stole his jacket near Bensonhurst Park (Cropsey Avenue and Bay 28th Street) at around 4:45 p.m. According to police, the 37-year-old punched the 29-year-old with a closed fist before forcibly removing his jacket. Cops later found the perp and recovered the jacket.

WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY

An unknown perp made off with over $4,000 and assorted jewelry after raiding a 36-year-old man’s bedroom on Saturday, January 9. At around 6:30 p.m., the perp entered the man’s apartment, located near 64th Street and 21st Avenue, through a bedroom window according to cops, and stole the money and jewelry before fleeing the scene.
