Between Thursday, December 31 and Monday, January 4, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two robberies, one burglary and one felony assault. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.
DROPPED THE BALL
An 86th Street pizzeria was robbed of $6,000 on New Year’s Eve, according to cops. The restaurant’s manager, along with several employees, went downstairs—where the establishment’s office is located—to change before they left work for the day. Upon returning in the morning, the manager noticed the office door had been kicked in and $6,000 was missing from inside. Police determined that there were no signs of forced entry from outside the restaurant.
MANIC MONDAY
A 49-year-old man was walking home near Lake Street and Kings Highway on Monday, January 4 at around 9:45 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown perp with a gun. The perp demanded the 49-year-old’s cellphone and wallet—containing credit/debit cards—and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
QUICK ESCAPE
On Sunday, January 3 at around 7:50 p.m., a 53-year-old woman was held at knifepoint inside her Bay Parkway apartment. According to cops, the 58-year-old behind the assault demanded money from the woman. The victim was able to escape through a bedroom window and call police. The man has since been apprehended.
ANGRY ARGUMENT
A 31-year-old man was taken to NYU Lutheran Medical Center on Friday, January 1 after a 32-year-old man hit him in the head with a bat near Kings Highway and West Ninth Street. According to cops, the two men were strangers and were engaged in a dispute when the assault happened. The 31-year-old suffered bruising and bleeding to the head and the perp has been apprehended.
