Between Monday, January 11 and Saturday, January 16, the 68th Precinct received reports of one attempted robbery, one attempted burglary and two burglaries. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.
COPS NAB MASKED ROBBER
Cops say a 28-year-old man was robbed by a perp in possession of a knife while walking to a train station on Thursday, January 14. According to police, the victim was walking near the corner of Fourth Avenue and 91st Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. when the assailant — a 28-year-old white man wearing a black coat and a mask — came from behind him and tried to steal the victim’s bag.
Shortly after the robbery, cops found and arrested the alleged perp after they found that he had dropped a gravity knife and the victim identified him as the culprit.
BREAK-IN GONE BAD
A 47-year-old white man was arrested after allegedly breaking into an apartment building near 74th Street and 10th Avenue on Monday, January 11 at 11:50 a.m. When the police officer who was on the scene approached the perp, cops say he was in possession of a controlled substance and a weapon.
LOW STANDARD BURGLARS
A burglar came away with only $40 after breaking into a restaurant near 68th Street and Eighth Avenue on Monday, January 11 at around 2:55 a.m. Cops say the perp broke into the eatery through the kitchen door at the front of the building by smashing the lock.
No arrests have been made.
OVER 20 PIECES OF JEWELRY STOLEN
A 57-year-old woman returned to her apartment near Fourth Avenue and 84th Street on Saturday, January 16 at 10 p.m. to find over 20 pieces of jewelry stolen. Cops say the unknown perp entered the building through the bedroom window after the victim left her place at 10 a.m. that day,
Once inside, according to police, the burglar grabbed several pairs of yellow metal earrings, sterling silver rings, bracelets and necklaces.
No arrests have been made.
