Between Monday, January 4 and Sunday, January 9, the 68th Precinct received reports of two grand larcenies, two burglaries and two robberies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

NOT A PIZZA PARTY

Cops say that two male crooks who posed as pizza delivery guys robbed staffers at a local spa during the early morning hours of Saturday, January 9.

According to police, the duo knocked on the door of the spa near 66th Street and 11th Avenue at approximately 4:20 a.m. When the victims, two Asian women in their early thirties, opened the door, the two perps pushed their way into building. One of the crooks pointed a gun at the women, demanding they give them all they had. The perps ended up stealing two smartphones and cash, totaling approximately $1,500 before fleeing the scene.

The victims were not injured during the robbery.

BAD MEN, WORSE DRIVERS

A 19-year-old car service driver was robbed by passengers on the evening of Saturday, July 9, near 12th Avenue and 85th street.

The driver had responded to a pickup call, collecting his passengers, described by police as 19 and 20-year-old Hispanics, near Hoyt Street at approximately 8 p.m.

After traveling for a while, the men demanded that the driver pull over. When the victim complied, one of the perps pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. Both crooks then punched him in the head. After the attack, the driver ran from the car, while the perps drove away with the vehicle, which also contained $250.

Shortly after the robbery, the perps crashed the vehicle near Bay Eighth Street and then fled the scene of the accident on foot. The car was recovered, but not the cash.

CIGARETTE CROOKS

A male employee of a deli near 74th Street and 13th Avenue got an unpleasant surprise when he opened shop on Wednesday, January 6 at approximately 5:20 a.m. Cops say the victim discovered that unknown crooks had entered through the store’s open back door and removed approximately $600 and 20 cartons of cigarettes.

The victim told police that his back door is always open and it’s possible the perps entered from the construction site next door.

NOT THE FEDS

A 40-year-old woman fell victim to a scam, wiring $8,000 via Western Union to a crook who called her claiming to be from the IRS. According to cops, the woman, who resides near 94th Street and Marine Avenue, received the phone call on Monday, January 4 some time between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

DRAWING A BLANK

A burglar came up empty handed when he attempted to enter the home of a 63-year-old man near Fifth Avenue and 67th Street on Tuesday, January 5 at 6 p.m., according to the police.

A 22-year-old neighbor discovered the attempted break-in, cops say, when he returned home from work and noticed damage to the front door of the apartment where an unknown perp tried to pry open the door. There was damage to door frame, as well as scratch marks and signs of forcible entry. Nothing was removed from the apartment.
