68th Precinct Police Beat: Food delivery man robbed at knife point

Between Monday, January 18 and Thursday, January 21, the 68th Precinct received reports of two robberies and two burglaries. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

DELIVERY GONE BAD

Cops say a food delivery man was robbed when bringing an order to an apartment at 10^th Avenue and 64^th Street on Monday, January 18.

When the victim arrived at the building at approximately 8:50 p.m., he called the person who had ordered the food. Cops say the delivery man then met the perp, wearing a black ski mask and black gloves, on the second floor of the building. Police say the man then pointed a knife at the victim and told him in Spanish to turn around and give him all his money. The perp took the victim’s cell phone and money, and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.

EARRING CAPER

Nearly $430 worth of property was stolen from the apartment of a woman living at 77^th Street and Ridge Boulevard. Police say that on Monday, January 18 between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a burglar broke into the apartment by prying open the door and stole $400 worth of  earrings and $30.

SLAP IN THE FACE

A 28-year-old man had his wallet snatched near 82^nd Street and Fifth Avenue by a man wearing a baseball cap on Thursday, January 21 at approximately 4:45 a.m.

According to the police, the perp walked up to the victim, slapped him in his face, which caused him to fall, and nabbed his wallet containing $900 and his ID card, from his pocket.

BIG BURGLARY

Cops say that on Thursday, January 21, an elderly couple’s home was robbed of several thousand dollars worth of jewelry.

While the 63-year-old woman and a 67-year old man were at work, an unknown burglar got into the home near Bay Ridge Parkway and Narrows Avenue by breaking in through the rear kitchen window.

The perp then went upstairs, ransacked the bedrooms and stole approximately $5,350 worth of jewelry, including 20 women’s necklaces worth $2000, and sports and pocket watches worth $800. When the woman returned home at 6:30 p.m., she discovered the theft.
