72nd Precinct Police Beat: Hospital guard assaulted by patient trying to escape

Between Thursday, January 7 and Monday, January 11, the 72nd Precinct received reports of two assaults and two robberies. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

COWARD ROBBERS STEAL $15

Cops say a 25-year-old Asian woman was attacked by two perps, a male and a female, who robbed her of cash — but came up with only $15 for their efforts.

The victim was walking near 40th Street and Fifth Avenue on Monday, January 11 at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the crooks approached her and asked if they could use her cell phone. When she complied, the two crooks then forced her to open up her purse, telling her that they had a gun. They grabbed the money from her purse and fled the scene.

The criminals have not been arrested.

IT TAKES TWO

A 36-year-old Hispanic man was walking near Sixth Avenue and 45th Street on Sunday, January 10 at approximately 1 a.m. when a perp ran towards him, pushed him in the back of the head and slammed him against a wall. Police say a second perp was waiting at the corner. He also approached the victim and punched him in the eye. The robbers stole the victim’s wallet, iPhone, watch and Metrocard before warning him not to call the police or they’ll come after him. They then fled the scene.

MYSTERIOUS PELLET WOUND

A 15-year-old Hispanic girl was rushed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center on Thursday, January 7 at approximately 12:30 a.m. with a pellet inside her leg that may have come from a BB gun.

The victim told cops that she didn’t know how she was injured or who took the shot, only that it happened outside a deli near 41st Street and Fifth Avenue. Doctors removed the pellet. Cops have not apprehended the unknown perp.

CANE PAIN

A 28-year-old male security guard at NYU Lutheran Medical Center, 150 55th Street, was injured when he attempted to stop a 58-year-old male patient from leaving the hospital on Monday, January 11 at approximately 2:39 p.m.

The guard — who was struck in the head with a cane by the patient — eventually stopped him from escaping from the facility.
