Between Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two robberies, one grand larceny and one burglary. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.
NOT-SO-FANTASTIC FIVE
A 36-year-old Asian man was robbed of $220 after being held up at gunpoint by five unknown perps on Sunday, February 21. At around 9 p.m. near 72nd Street and 16th Avenue, the 36-year-old was walking home when the perps approached him. One of the men pointed a gun at his waist and demanded money. Once they took the cash, the perps fled toward 14th Avenue.
ON THE SHELF
On Sunday, February 21 at around 5 a.m., a 31-year-old woman came home to her West Sixth Street apartment after work to find her ex-boyfriend in her closet. According to police, the woman has an active Order of Protection against him but is unsure if he was ever served. The man ended up leaving the apartment without harming the 31-year-old or taking anything.
FRESHLY PICK-POCKETED
A 36-year-old Asian woman told police that, while shopping at a supermarket near 80th Street and 23rd Avenue on Saturday, February 20 at around 7 p.m., an unknown Asian man took her cellphone out of her jacket pocket. According to cops, the incident is on video.
ON THE LINE
A 44-year-old man was struck in the face and robbed of his cellphone while he was talking on it on Saturday, February 20 at around 9:39 p.m. While walking near 86th and Bay 26th Streets, a 26-year-old man came up to the 44-year-old and punched him in the face before knocking him to the ground. The perp also went through the man’s pockets and yelled at him to hand over his money. The perp fled with only the man’s phone and was later apprehended by police.
