62nd Precinct Police Beat: Man attacked with hammer

Between Friday, March 4 and Sunday, March 7, the 62nd Precinct received reports of one felony assault, one grand larceny and two burglaries. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

HAMMERED

A 21-year-old white man told police that while he was walking along 14th Avenue near 86th Street on Saturday, March 5 at around 11 p.m., two perps – both men in their twenties, one Hispanic, one white – began to argue with him and one pulled out a hammer and swung it at his head. According to cops, the 21-year-old suffered a gash to the left side of his head, above his ear. The perps fled in an unknown direction after the incident and the man was taken to Maimonides Medical Center.

BULLSEYE

$8,316 in fraudulent charges were made to a 51-year-old Asian man’s Discover card on Saturday, March 5 after it was mistakenly sent to his old 77th Street address. The charges were racked up in a Brooklyn Target.

FIRE ESCAPED

A 52-year-old black man came home to his West Fourth Street apartment on Friday, March 4, to find miscellaneous electronics missing and his bedroom window – located near a fire escape – slightly open. According to cops, the building is only equipped with hallway cameras.

STRANGER DANGER

A man living near Bay Parkway and West Eighth Street told police that on Sunday, March 7 at around 3 p.m., he woke up to his dog barking in a rear bedroom of his house, only to find an unknown man standing outside by the window with the screen open and blinds pulled up. When the homeowner approached the man, he said “he was working on the roof, looking for Eddie.” The man told cops that when he went outside to talk to him, the stranger fled.
