72nd Precinct Police Beat: Four men assault and rob victim

Between Sunday, February 28 and Monday, March 7, the 72nd Precinct received reports of three grand larcenies, one robbery and one assault. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

NOT SO FANTASTIC FOUR

A 35-year-old Asian man was attacked and robbed by a group of four males on Eighth Avenue and 60th Street on Monday, March 7 at approximately 5:40 p.m. Cops say that the group approached the victim and when he took out his phone to take a picture of one of them, the four of them started to punch him repeatedly. During the assault, the victim’s iPhone fell on the floor. One of the perps nabbed it before they all ran away. The suspect sustained minor injuries.

SON BEAT-DOWN

A 66-year-old Asian man was assaulted by his 26-year-old son inside his apartment at Third Avenue and 59th Street. Cops say that on Wednesday, March 2 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the victim was hit by his son several times in the face and head, and sustained several cuts. As the son left, he took his father’s cell phone and $300, and also damaged his car. The son was later arrested by police.

CREDIT CARD MYSTERY

A 36-year-old man realized that on Sunday, February 28 at approximately 1:35 p.m., an unknown perp withdrew money twice from his bank account from an ATM near Ralph Avenue and Avenue J. The victim never lost the card that the money was withdrawn with, and has since received a new one. The perp stole approximately $686.

INTENTIONAL BUMP

On Friday, March 4 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a 51-year-old black man was exiting a doughnut store at Second Avenue and 31st Street when an unknown perp intentionally bumped into him. Later on during the day, the man realized that his wallet, containing $80, credit cards and his driver’s license, had been stolen.

CAR BREAK-IN

On Sunday, March 6 at approximately 8:30 p.m. at Seventh Avenue and 48th Street, an unknown perp broke into a car belonging to a 48-year-old Hispanic man and stole around $1,180 worth of property. Among the items stolen were a purse, two yellow metal bracelets, $100 and three yellow metal necklaces.
