Bay Ridge businessman brings nabe high quality laundromats

Laundry with a smile is the motto.

With Bubbles & Suds, born-and-raised Bay Ridge resident Omar Kasi has brought the neighborhood high quality laundromats which include not only a unique ambiance and top-notch customer service but also such atypical amenities as contests.

With two stores in the Bay Ridge area, 7418 Fifth Avenue and 8003 Fifth Avenue, and one that just opened in Sunset Park last year, 5119 Fourth Avenue, Kasi is a hands-on owner who has been in the business for over 15 years.

“What we try to do here is do laundry with a little different twist,” Kasi said. “I wanted something that I knew was going to stand out from the competition and give customers a new and refreshing look at the laundry world.”

Those differences start with the look of the three stores, thanks to their color scheme and interior cleanliness. In addition, each offers free wi-fi and cable television. Every Sunday, each laundromat also provides free coffee and bagels for customers. Two of the stores — the ones located in Sunset Park, and at 74th Street — are also open 24 hours a day.

For Kasi, the employees help set his businesses apart. “They’re wonderful. I believe our customer service in this industry is at the top,” he said. “You’re always greeted and treated with respect and they’re looking to help any way they can, which I think is very important.”

Each Bubbles & Suds store also offers contests, which adds to the fun and community spirit. “We also like to give our customers many advantages. We do plenty of giveaways here. The one big one we’re doing right now is the  free wash for a year,” he said. “Each store will be giving away one $500 laundry card that customers can use for self-service, drop off or pick-up and delivery.”

Winners’ names and photos will be posted on the store’s walls.

The laundromat also makes getting their laundry to Bubbles & Suds easy for tech-savvy clientele, as they can request pick-ups on the company’s website.

In addition, said Kasi, “We are in the process of building a new app and website to make it an even better process for our customers. Right now, you can schedule the pick-up. Going forward, you’ll be able to pay your bill online, and receive text messages.”

For Kasi, whose father was also in the business, having the stores close to his home means a lot to him.

“I love my neighborhood. I like to give back as well so that’s a win-win for everyone,” he said. He has been a sponsor for Pietro’s Fight as well as giving time to his alma mater, Saint Anselm Catholic Academy, where he coaches the eighth grade basketball team.
