A Dyker Heights resident is in hot water after he was charged in connection with an incident in which he is suspected of firing aimlessly from a loaded handgun Friday night.
According to police, just past 10 p.m. on Friday, April 8, officers responded to a 911 call of shots fired in front of 1202 66th Street, in the confines of the 68th Precinct.
The caller stated that he observed a man who was wearing a blue top and black pants firing a handgun from inside a black Suburban.
Upon arrival, plainclothes anti-crime officers Dwayne Hodge and Mikeljan Agolli discovered a man standing on the street who fit the description. The suspect – later identified as 32-year-old Fernando Montesino, of Dyker Heights – was stopped and a witness identified him as the shooter.
A Rossi USA .357 revolver was subsequently recovered from Montesino’s vehicle, as well as two live rounds and six spent shell casings.
Montesino was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
