In preparation for the 10th Anniversary of Fashion Week Brooklyn, Kings Plaza hosted open casting calls from February through April to find some of the borough’s best fashionistas, fashion gurus, and runway extraordinaires.
Open to everyone over the age of five, Fashion Week Brooklyn was seeking to create awareness for the event’s Opening Ceremony to be held at Kings Plaza on Sunday, May 1, and find “talent and staff” to work its runway shows.
“Kings Plaza is proud to host the opening ceremony of Brooklyn’s premier fashion event here at Brooklyn’s premier shopping destination,” said Dawn Simon, area senior marketing manager for Kings Plaza. “Focusing on fashion is natural for Kings Plaza and we invite the community to experience this incredible event dedicated to celebrating designers from all over the world.”
The week consists of shows that will take place from May 2 through May 8 all throughout the borough – attendees of which will include a “diverse spectrum of socially conscious, influential, fashion-forward men and women,” according to Kings Plaza.
Fashion Week Brooklyn, run under the nonprofit corporation BK|Style Foundation (BK|SF) – founded in 2006 – boasts more than just an opportunity for aspiring designers and models, the event also devotes each season to supporting charitable organizations including the Soles4Souls Foundation, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Art In Motion Show, Denim Day NYC and Colel Chabad.
