62nd Precinct Police Beat: Perps use brass knuckles, baseball bat in two different assaults on 86th Street

Between Wednesday, May 25 and Saturday, May 28 the 62nd Precinct received reports of two felony assaults, one burglary and one robbery. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

CHEAP HIT

After leaving an 86th Street bar at around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, a 26-year-old man was hit with a baseball bat by an unknown Hispanic man. According to police, the suspect fled and the 26-year-old was taken to NYU Lutheran Medical Center and treated for cuts to the head.

KNUCKLE HEADS

On Friday, May 27 at around 10 p.m., a verbal dispute occurred between a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man near 86th Street and Stillwell Avenue. The argument resulted in the 20-year-old whipping out brass knuckles and hitting the 21-year-old in the head multiple times. The 20-year-old fled southbound on 26th Avenue after the attack.

BACK-FOR-MORE BURGLAR

A 56-year-old man told police that on Friday, May 27 at around 5:40 p.m. an unknown person broke into his West Sixth Street home and stole a bicycle, with the intention of coming back for more. The 56-year-old told cops that he saw the perp, described as a white man in his 20s, come back to the house later on that day. He fled on foot before police could be notified.

BAD SAMARITANS

After offering a 54-year-old man some help while walking home, two unknown men robbed him of $165, his credit card, phone and IDs near Bay 19th and 86th Streets at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. According to police, the two men pushed the 54-year-old to the ground during the robbery and punched him in the head. He was taken to Coney Island Hospital after the attack.
