68th Precinct Police Beat: Perps break into diner, lock up worker and steal cash

Between Friday, May 27 and Thursday, June 2, the 68th Precinct received reports of two grand larcenies, one robbery and one assault. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

JAW BREAKER

A 20-year old male reported to the police that he was attacked on the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 86th Street around 9:45 p.m. on Friday, May 27. According to police, the perp punched the victim in the face on the left side using brass knuckles, breaking his jaw in two places. The perp fled eastbound on 86th street in a vehicle and the victim was admitted to Lutheran Medical Center.

CAR THEFT

A 60-year old male told police that his car was stolen from its parking spot on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 73rd Street around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2. According to police, the victim left his vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet, parked and unlocked, and returned to discover it gone along with his wallet that contained several credit cards. Overall value of stolen property was $820.

ORDER TO GO

A pair of masked crooks made off with $500 from a restaurant at 88th Street and Fourth Avenue, after breaking in on Monday, May 30 at around 3:35 a.m. A male employee was cleaning the kitchen at the time when the pair of bandits, both men according to the victim, charged in, grabbed him and locked him inside an office in the basement while they raided the cash register.

RUNNING THIEF

A 44-year-old woman had her wallet lifted while she was walking eastbound near Bay Ridge Avenue and Ridge Boulevard on Wednesday, June 1 at around 8 p.m. Cops say the thief  ran up from behind her from her left side, grabbed the wallet containing $173 and credit cards from under her left arm and fled eastbound on Bay Ridge Avenue. No injuries were reported.
