72nd Precinct Police Beat: Crook attacks, steals woman’s bag at Sunset station

Between Tuesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 16, the 72nd Precinct received reports of two assaults, one robbery and one burglary. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

GRAB BAG

A 26-year-old woman had her purse snatched while walking on the southbound platform of the 25th Street and Fourth Avenue train station on Wednesday, June 15 at around 5:35 p.m. The perp, described by the victim as a black man in his 20s, approached the victim and asked if she spoke Chinese. When she said that she didn’t speak English, the robber hit her and pulled the handbag away from her before fleeing the scene. The bag contained around $540 worth of property, including an iPhone, $40 and credit cards.

IT STINGS

On Thursday June 16 at around 12:35 a.m., a 32-year-old man was hit by the pellet from a pellet gun while walking on the northeast corner of Sixth Avenue and 50th Street. As he was walking, the victim felt a sudden, sharp pain on his left shoulder. The man sustained a bruise on left shoulder. No arrests have been made.

T.V. DRAMA

An argument escalated into violence on Tuesday, June 14 at around 9:10 a.m. when a 28-year-old woman was cut by her 29-year-old brother-in-law with a kitchen knife, while fighting  over shutting the television. The woman received lacerations to both of her hands. Her brother-in-law was arrested on assault charges.

COMMUNITY CROOK

A 54-year-old man broke into a community care building and stole $4,000 worth of computers sometime between 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15. Cops say the unknown burglar broke into the building through the rear window of the office, wrecked the room and stole two laptops.
