First Lady Michelle Obama honored the Brooklyn Public Library at the White House with the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service in recognition of its outreach services on Wednesday, June 1.
The First Lady presented the award to BPL President and CEO Linda Johnson and patron Kim Best for the significant impact the library has in its community.
The award is the highest honor recognizing museums and libraries for the work they do for their communities. Ten institutions were recognized, including BPL.
