The most unique dog name in Bay Ridge is…. Murphy.

According to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) interactive map, “Unique Dog Names by Neighborhood,” “Murphy” was ranked as the most unique in the Ridge.

The map’s data is determined by comparing the citywide rank and the neighborhood rank of licensed dog names with at least 50 occurring citywide, according to DOHMH.

“For example, in Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill, ‘Ella’ is ranked sixth. Citywide, Ella is ranked 118th. That makes Ella’s “uniqueness ratio” in Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill 19.67 (118/6), highest in that neighborhood,” the map details.

Other names unique to southern Brooklyn include “Louie” in Dyker Heights,  “Happy” in Bensonhurst, “Tiffany” in Gravesend and Bath Beach, “Taz” in Coney Island, “Xena” in Sunset Park and “Pumpkin” in Borough Park.
