Would-be Bensonhurst baby snatcher picked up by police

Cops have arrested the woman who attempted to walk away with someone else’s child over Memorial Day weekend in Bensonhurst.

According to police, just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 51-year-old Shao Qing Li approached a two-year-old girl who was outside playing near the vicinity of 16th Avenue and 84th Street, took her by the hand and began to walk away with her.

The child’s mother, who was also outside and saw the interaction, then approached the Bensonhurst resident – a stranger to her and her family – and took her child back.

Afterwards, Li walked away as if nothing had happened. She has since been charged with Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child.
