Tenth annual Senior Idol coming this fall

Are you a Brooklyn resident, over 50 years old, and love to sing? If this describes you, show off your talent for this year’s 10th annual Senior Idol!

On Monday, September 12, State Senator Marty Golden and Xaverian High School are holding auditions starting at 2:30 p.m. at Xaverian High School, 7100 Shore Road, for the singing competition scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m at the high school.

Contestants should audition with their favorite tune accompanied by a CD or cassette tape and can have access to a piano, if necessary.

Votes from both the judges and the audience will select the winner, who will take home a $500 prize.

“Brooklyn’s Senior Idol attracts some great talent from residents of our borough, who dazzle the crowd with renditions of some of the greatest songs of all time,” stated Golden. “I look forward to another truly entertaining event which has become a very anticipated community tradition.”

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds goes to Xaverian High School’s music program for scholarships and instrument purchases.

For more info or to sign up for auditions, contact Golden’s office at 718-238-6044 or email golden@nysenate.gov.
