One of a pair of teens who allegedly attempted to hold up a cab driver in Coney Island is now in custody, as cops search for the other suspect.
According to the NYPD, the 42-year old male taxi driver reported the attempted robbery to cops on Sunday, July 10 around 2:34 p.m.
Police say the cab driver dropped off a fare on West 28th Street and was then approached by two suspects who posed as customers. The two suspects opened the cab driver’s side door, and displayed a gun as they demanded his property. When the victim refused, they hit him with the gun. After a struggle, the suspects fled the scene empty-handed.
The victim suffered an injury on his chin, but refused medical attention at the scene.
One of the suspects was apprehended by cops on Friday, July 22 around 5:30 p.m. He was identified as a 14-year-old boy who was charged with robbery. The second suspect has yet to be found, and is estimated to be 13 to 16 years old.
