68th Precinct Police Beat: Burglar breaks into Bay Ridge medical center

URGENT CARE BREAK-IN

A medical center on Fourth Avenue and 77^th Street was broken into on Monday, August 8 at around 4:08 a.m. According to police reports, an unknown burglar described as a white man in his mid-twenties, broke the lock to the front door, entered the reception area and stole the cash register with money inside, totaling in nearly $400. Surveillance cameras revealed that the perp fled on foot eastbound on 77^th Street.

A 27-year-old man discovered the damage and missing register hours later. No arrests have been made.

COSTLY FOUR HOURS

An apartment on 88^th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway was burglarized during broad daylight, costing the 34-year-old male victim around $1,600 in lost property. The victim left his home on Saturday, August 13 at around 9 a.m. When he returned at around 1 p.m., he found his fire escape window open and his air conditioner  on the floor. According to the man, an unknown perp had broken in, thrown dresser drawers on the floor and stolen $400 cash, several paychecks and a smartphone.

SPECIAL DELIVERY

A pizza delivery man had his car stolen on Saturday, August 13 at around 8:40 p.m., while he was delivering pizza at Third Avenue and 64^th Street. As the 31-year-old man delivered the food to the home, an unknown perp ran inside the car and drove away. According to the victim, he had left the keys to his vehicle in the ignition and the door open.  The vehicle is worth approximately $4,300.

CREDIT CARD THEFT

A car parked on the northeast corner on Seventh Avenue and 84^th Street was broken into sometime between 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 13 and 9 a.m. the following morning, according to cops, who said that when the 39-year-old man returned to the vehicle the following morning, he discovered that his cell phone, two credit and debit cards, and driver’s license had been stolen.

The man was then notified by a bank that over $800 had been charged on one of his cards. The perp made charges on other cards as well.

The victim then went to a nearby deli near 81st Street and Fifth Avenue where an employee told him he had video and a photo of the suspect. The victim claims he later ran into and confronted the perp who threatened to hit him with a baseball bat before fleeing in a white vehicle.

GRAND THEFT AUTO

A woman’s vehicle went missing after she left it on the northeast corner Seventh Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway on Thursday, July 7 at around 10 a.m.

When the 47-year-old returned on Friday, August 5 at around 10 a.m., she noticed the vehicle was missing. According to the woman, she had lost her set of keys and said nobody had permission to remove her vehicle from the location. A check of computer records for Brooklyn’s car tow pound was unsuccessful.
