72nd Precinct Police Beat: Delivery man assaulted by two perps

The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

TWO AGAINST ONE

A 23-year-old man was delivering food at 17th Street and Seventh Avenue on Wednesday, August 10 at around 1:50 a.m. when two men, described in police reports as Hispanics in their early 20s, attacked him. The perps punched the victim on the right side of the face and nose before stealing $120 from his right pocket. The two perps fled southbound on Sixth Avenue.

RESTROOM ROBBERY

While at a karaoke bar at Seventh Avenue and 61st Street on Thursday, August 11 around 2:30 a.m., a 26-year-old woman left her purse unattended in one of the karaoke rooms and went to the restroom. When she returned, she noticed several items missing from her bag, including cash, credit cards and an iPhone, worth around $2,950.

NO EYE CONTACT

A 31-year-old man was slashed while walking home on Saturday, August 13 at around 2:50 a.m. while at the northwest corner of 41st Street and Fourth Avenue, a 17-year-old male approached him and, in Spanish, asked him what he was looking at. In fear of his safety, the man ran from the scene. The perp followed him with a box cutter in hand, caught up to the man and cut him in the right hand. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Shortly after, the perp was arrested.

CELL PHONE SALE GONE BAD

A 16-year-old teen was ripped off when he went to buy a cell phone from an acquaintance, also 16, at Seventh Avenue and 60th Street on Sunday, August 14 at around 1:35 a.m. Cops say that when the victim went to the location, the seller put a knife to his stomach, took his money and fled the scene.

Arresting officers found the alleged perp at his home shortly after and placed him under arrest for robbery.

BIKE BANDIT

On Friday, August 12 at around 11:35 p.m., a 36-year-old man was at Seventh Avenue and 52nd Street when another man, described by the victim as Hispanic with long black hair, riding on a black bicycle, ripped his $750 cell phone from his hand before fleeing southbound on Seventh Avenue and then eastbound on 54th Street.
