72nd Precinct Police Beat: Three-year-old struck with glass bottle during fight

CHILD STRUCK BY GLASS BOTTLE

A three-year-old was struck and cut by a glass bottle while his 49-year-old mother was walking him to school on Tuesday, August 9 at around 9:05 a.m.

Cops say that when the two reached Fifth Avenue and 60th Street, they encountered two men fighting with each other. During the altercation, one of the men, described as a 33-year-old Hispanic man, threw a 22-ounce bottle at the other. The bottle missed the man and instead struck the boy above the right eye, resulting in a large gash. The boy was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The perp fled the scene towards 60th Street. During the morning hours of Wednesday, August 10, cops found the perp, apprehended him, and placed him under custody.

DRUNKEN ROBBERY

An intoxicated man was walking towards the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 60th Street on Monday, August 8 at around 8:25 when he was robbed at knife point. A perp, described by the victim as a 30-year-old man, came from behind, grabbed the victim, and showed him his weapon. The victim responded by handing over $1,500 worth of property, including a smartphone and $500, before fleeing the scene.

SPECIAL DELIVERY

On Monday, August 8 at around 6:16 p.m., a man making a delivery at Eighth Avenue and 51st Street discovered that an unknown burglary had entered his truck and stolen approximately $5,068 in cash. No arrests have been made.

KNIFE ROBBERY

A 40-year-old man was attacked and robbed by five men on Tuesday, August 2 at around 6 p.m. while walking at the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. The victim was headed to the store when the quintet, describe by police reports as Hispanic, threw him to the ground, then punched and kicked him. One of the crooks took out a knife and scratched the victim’s neck and stomach before running away with $60.

FOUR AGAINST ONE

On Tuesday, August 9 at around 3 a.m., a 32-year-old man was walking home on Fifth Avenue between 61 and 62nd Streets when he was approached by four unknown Hispanics. They hit the victim from behind with an unknown object, stole cash and fled southbound on Fifth Avenue. The victim suffered a laceration to right side of face.
