Bay Ridge bodegas hit by ATM-skimming crook

A string of ATM larcenies has cops searching for a man, they say, hit up at least 14 different machines throughout Brooklyn in July, including two in Bay Ridge.

Obtaining information via skimming devices, the individual – described as male, possibly Hispanic or white, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black cap and black sunglasses – used people’s banking accounts to make withdrawals totaling thousands of dollars from several ATMs throughout the borough, according to the NYPD.

The incidents in Bay Ridge occurred at two different Fifth Avenue delis on Thursday, July 9. The first occurred at 7212 Fifth Avenue and the second at 7202 Fifth Avenue. Both times the perp used a 54-year-old man’s account information to withdraw $200.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the crime stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
