Cops seek pair who skimmed ATMs inside New York Methodist, Sloan Kettering, other medical centers

Cops are looking to identify a pair of suspects who allegedly installed skimming devices in ATMs inside hospitals across the city – including Brooklyn’s own New York Methodist Hospital on Sixth Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.

According to police, the devices were installed between Wednesday, August 24 and Tuesday, November 1 at the following hospitals and medical centers: New York Methodist Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York Presbyterian Hospital and Jamaica Hospital.

Police say the duo used the devices to obtain victims’ personal information, which they then used to make duplicate cards and make several unauthorized cash withdrawals.

The first perp is alleged to be 36-year-old Atanasiu Bogdan-Valentin, who is described by cops as having brown hair and brown eyes. The second, still unidentified perp is an adult male with a mustache, who was last seen wearing a green hat, green shirt, green jacket and dark framed glasses.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
