Cops seek Sheepshead Bay police impersonators

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals wanted for impersonating police officers in Sheepshead Bay in September.

It was reported to police that on Wednesday, September 14 at around 12:15 a.m., two unidentified males approached a food vendor on Avenue Z near East 14th Street and told him that they were police officers.

The duo then began searching the victim and removed $550 in cash, his college identification and his New York State IDs. The two men then fled in what cops describe as “a new model black Honda Accord.”

The first suspect is described as a short, white male, approximately 5’3,” slim, wearing a black hoodie, black jeans and a device on his shoulder. The second male suspect is described as 6’4,” approximately 300 pounds. He was wearing a cream-colored, button-down shirt.

The victim sustained no injuries as a result of the incident and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
