It was a cause for celebration on Thursday, December 15 as the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce marked the end of another successful year and new beginnings on the horizon at its annual Winter Gala.
The end-of-the-year bash, which took place once again at the El Caribe (5945 Strickland Avenue), saw over 600 members and friends getting together for a fun night of great food, music and — most importantly — good fun.
As always, the event kicked off with a cocktail reception and was followed by an awards presentation that honored individuals who have made significant contributions to the economic development of Brooklyn, as well as to the growth of businesses in the borough.
Honored this year was the longtime president of St. Francis College Brendan Dugan who, just days later, died at the age of 69. He was unable to attend the event, though his son Patrick accepted the award on his behalf.
In addition, the Chamber paid special tribute to “true Brooklynite” Anthony Nardella, who died this past summer.
The evening also served as a salute to outgoing President Carlo Scissura and a warm welcome for incoming President Andrew Hoan.
