BREAKING: Taste of the Ridge to be delayed until October

Foodie alert: A famous Bay Ridge tradition has been put on hold.

The annual Taste of the Ridge, typically held in April at the Aldo Bruschi Auditorium of St. Patrick’s Catholic Academy, has been postponed until the fall.

“The Annual Taste of the Ridge, usually held on the last Sunday of April has been postponed to October, date to be determined,” read a statement on St. Patrick’s RC Church Rectory’s Facebook page, posted on Wednesday, April 19.

“I believe (the delay) is because there were so many things going on this time of the year that they felt the need to move it to October,” Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, who founded the event, told this paper. “This is the 21st year we are doing it so it’s always been a hot event.”

Gigantiello was once a parish priest at St. Pat’s and who is a trained chef.  The event is meant to raise funds for the school and the parish.

Dozens of the neighborhood’s most popular eateries, such as Gino’s, Campania, Ember’s Steakhouse, Chadwick’s and Salty Dog have participated in the event where hundreds of attendees have the opportunity to sample numerous offerings for the affordable price of $20.
