Independent Bay Ridge bookstore, The Bookmark Shoppe (8415 Third Avenue), is hosting an event with model Ashley Graham, who will be signing copies of her new book A New Model at a nearby neighborhood restaurant.
The signing will take place at Cebu Bar and Bistro (8801 Third Avenue) on Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
Graham has been a professional model since she was 13 years old, when she was discovered in a shopping mall in her home state of Nebraska. She has since graced the covers of top magazines, such as Cosmopolitan and Elle. Graham was also the first plus-size model to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s fan-favorite Swimsuit Issue. Currently, Graham serves as a judge on VH1’s reboot of the popular reality-competition series “America’s Next Top Model.”
Her book, A New Model is a collection of essays and photos in which Graham shares her perspective on ideas of body image and the roller-coaster ride of having a career in fashion, as well as support for women to come to terms with accepting who they are.
