Three-car accident on the Gowanus leaves 29-year-old driver dead

A 29-year-old man is dead after a three-car accident on the Gowanus Expressway over the weekend.

According to police, at about 4:57 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, cops responded to a report of a vehicle collision on the route at 72nd Street, within the confines of the 68th Precinct.

An investigation revealed that, at the time of the crash, a white 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was travelling westbound on the Gowanus when it collided with a white 2015 Infiniti. After the initial collision, the Camaro veered into a guard rail which caused the car to overturn; also as a result of the collision, the Infiniti struck the rear end of a 2008 blue Honda Accord.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the driver of the Camaro unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his torso. Emergency Medical Services transported the man to NYU Lutheran Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The two occupants of the Infiniti were also transported to NYU Lutheran for evaluation while the occupants of the Honda Accord refused medical attention at the scene.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
