PHOTOS: 18th Avenue Festival electrifies Bensonhurst

Delighted festivalgoers began turning out in droves along 18th Avenue on Thursday, August 17, as the 42nd Annual Feast of Santa Rosalia brought a generous helping of Italian culture to the heart of Bensonhurst.

Each year, the Feast of Santa Rosalia, perhaps better known as the 18th Avenue Festival, transforms 18th Avenue (aka Cristoforo Colombo Boulevard) from 68th Street to Bay Ridge Parkway into a buffet of Italian culture, complete with live music, cultural delicacies and games.

The Feast of Santa Rosalia will run until Sunday, August 27, at which point a procession will be held during which the festival’s namesake saint is taken to Saint Dominic Church (2001 Bay Ridge Parkway) and a full mass is held.
