“The Miracle of Christmas” once again brings holiday cheer

Celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

On Wednesday, December 20, the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph and DeSales Media presented “The Miracle of Christmas,” a special Christmas theater production that has become a staple in Brooklyn.

Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn hosted the Christmas extravaganza, which was filled with family entertainment, a live musical production and a visit by Santa himself.

DiMarzio gave the opening blessing before the start of the festivities. Following an opening show, hosted by Liz Faublas with special performances by actor Anthony Mangano, the bill also included hip-hop/R&B artist Kei-Landa, who performed her hit original Christmas song “Put Him on Your List,” 13-year-old soprano Diana Marie Paunetto and cabaret singer Charlie Romo.

“The evening was wonderful. Hundreds of people attended the Miracle of Christmas, which allowed the faithful to be fully immersed in the true meaning of Christmas,” said Adriana Rodriguez, deputy press secretary of DeSales Media. “The live production took us back, with song and dance, to the events leading up to the birth of Jesus in a manger, playing out for us the scenes we have been hearing about in scripture for weeks. Based on the turnout, it is obvious people enjoy that kind of experience.”

Later, attendees got to see the live musical. The production, written and directed by Sister Maria Amador, told the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. This year, the show included new original songs and choreography and starred Aaron Heaps who played Joseph, and Jasmine Neil who played Mary.

The evening ended with a visit from St. Nick, hot chocolate and a tree lighting and light show.
