Cops seek would-be crook for attempted robbery, assault near Boro Park/Bensonhurst border

Cops are looking to identify the suspect they say attempted to rob a passerby on the border of Boro Park and Bensonhurst on Saturday, January 27.

According to authorities, who on Friday, February 16 issued an alert on the alleged perp, the man in question is said to have approached a 58-year-old man in front of 1419 61st Street, displayed a firearm and demanded money.

Cops say the unidentified suspect then struck the victim with the firearm before fleeing empty-handed westbound on 61st Street.

The alleged incident occurred at around 3:43 p.m. The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was treated on scene.

The suspect is described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, standing at 5’7” and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and dark colored jeans.
