73-year-old man struck, killed by two vehicles while crossing Bensonhurst intersection

A 73-year-old man died after being struck by two vehicles in the Bensonhurst area.

Authorities say that on Friday, March 2 at around 5:50 a.m., pedestrian John Ramondino was crossing West Sixth Street, from north to south, at its intersection with 65th Street.

As he was crossing, a gray Dodge Dakota operated by a 64-year-old man, traveling eastbound on 65th Street, entered the intersection and struck Ramondino as he attempted to cross. Then a second vehicle, a Chevy Astrovan driven by a 51-year-old man, which was driving westbound on 65th Street, also struck the pedestrian.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed Ramondino laying on the roadway. He was unconscious and unresponsive with severe trauma to his body.

EMS responded to the location and Ramondino was pronounced dead on the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and were uninjured.

No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
