Four-alarm fire in Bensonhurst home injures civilian, two firefighters

A four-alarm fire badly damaged a Bensonhurst home on Wednesday, April 11, injuring three.

According to the FDNY, the blaze started inside the second floor of a home on 63rd Street between 19th and 20th Avenues at around 3:15 p.m. It was under control at around 5 p.m. One civilian sustained a non-life threatening injury, while two firefighters also sustained minor injuries.

According to the FDNY fire marshals, the cause of the fire was, “illegal use of torch on a combustible roof,” according to the FDNY’s official Twitter account. FDNY also reported that there was no smoke alarm in use.
