The Ditmas Park CSA has opened registration for the 2018 season.
As in previous seasons, the bountiful produce — including a changing array of seasonal vegetables and melons grown using traditional and sustainable methods — will be supplied by farmer Jorge Carmona of Amantai Farms.
Optional add-ons this season will be eggs from Jorge and fruit that Jorge gets from a neighboring farm.
The 20-week season will begin on June 12 and last through October, with pick-up at Flatbush-Tompkins Congregational Church, East 19th Street and Dorchester Road.
Full shares, picked up weekly, not including any add-ons, will cost $765; partial shares picked up weekly will cost $535; and full shares picked up every other week will cost $385, as a cost-effective alternative to weekly half shares for smaller households. An administrative fee of $35 for both full and half shares will be added to all shares to cover the expenses of running the CSA. Pick-ups will take place on Tuesday, from 4:45-8 p.m.
Only a limited number of shares is available, and the CSA will close its 2018 membership once that number has been reached, or by May 15.

The Ditmas Park CSA was founded in 2008. CSA stands for community-supported agriculture, and it is entirely volunteer-run and community-based. Members purchase a share in the season’s harvest, joining the farm in both the risk and the bounty, and receiving produce directly from the farmer at the weekly pickup location.
Those interested in becoming members of the CSA core group, a volunteer group which plans the season and makes sure that Jorge’s wonderful vegetables are available to members through the CSA, should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
