Man found dead near train tracks in Bay Ridge

A homeless man died on Monday afternoon, apparently after falling from a ledge near the train tracks near 65th Street and Fifth Avenue.

According to authorities, on Mon., Jan. 28 at around 4:45 p.m., police found the man lying on the ground unconscious with trauma to his face. EMS responded and pronounced him DOA.

According to a police source, the victim was a Hispanic male in his 40s who had suffered a head injury. In addition, the source cited a witness who said the victim had told him that he wanted to go to sleep after being injured. The victim was found later that day.

The victim is unidentified at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
