Sunset resident, 27, dies from hit-and-run injuries

The 27-year-old who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Sunset Park early Monday morning has since succumbed to his injuries.

According to authorities, local resident Fernando Trejo was pronounced dead on Tuesday after being hit by an unknown vehicle just after 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Trejo was found lying in the roadway near the intersection of 52nd Street and Third Avenue — just blocks from his home — with severe trauma to his body.

He was rushed to NYU Langone-Brooklyn where he died the next day.

The driver fled the scene.

Cops say that there are currently no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

While the incident happened within the confines of the 72nd Precinct, it took place just blocks away from the borderlines of the 68 where, on Monday, 17 traffic accidents occurred.
