UPDATE: Cops arrest suspect who sexually assaulted woman near 25th Street station

Police have arrested a man suspected of the sexual assault and attempted rape of a 38-year-old woman within the confines of the 72nd Precinct.

Nineteen-year-old man Sammy Bensabeur was arrested on Tuesday, October 25 at around 7:27 p.m. on several charges, including attempted rape, attempted criminal sex act, sex abuse, forcible touching, unlawful imprisonment, public lewdness and harassment with respect to the incident which occurred on Saturday, October 22 at around 11:31 p.m.

Cops had responded to a 911 call from the 38-year-old woman saying that an unknown man had followed her from the 25th Street R train station to an apartment building nearby. The suspect allegedly followed her up the stairs to the apartment and grabbed her while they were between the first and second floors. During a struggle, the woman fell onto the stairs where she was allegedly sexually abused by the suspect who then fled the scene.

The woman sustained only minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
